Steve - On-site Manager
Steve was born and raised in Melbourne and went to school in Box Hill. After childhood love of flowers completed an apprenticeship in gardening before becoming a nurseryman and later a teacher of horticulture in the TAFE system for 18 years. In 1999, Steve bought the farm with two partners who have since departed. They saw an opportunity to run a business while enjoying a rural life style. Steve retired from TAFE in late 2008 to dedicate his time to develop the business. Some months later, the Black Saturday fire devastated region. Steve returned to full-time employment to generate income whilst tourist’s visitors were excluded from the area and the farm was re-established.
Chara - E-commerce and Marketing Coordinator
Chara Travelled from Taiwan to Australia in 2011 and became one of the wwoofers in the Kinglake Homestead in 2012. During her six months stayed, Chara has built a strong friendship with Steve and assisted Steve to rebuild Kinglake Homestead. After she back to Melbourne, she decided to study business to become a professional in e-coommerce. Steve has helped Chara to open a dance shoe shop online. Now, She currently works in a shoe company while studying part time in master degree. Working with Steve in Kinglake Homestead is one of her hobbies as she enjoys the nature and beauty of Kinglake Homestead.
